The problem with the Filipino audience is the short attention span. Television programs like Encantadia, Spirits, Sugo, Darna, Kampanerang Kuba, Marina, etc. would’ve been great had they not been saddled with the soap format. But nooo, they had to make it a daily show. All because of the Filipino’s attention span. We can’t bear to wait another week for our favorite programs to air. Think about it: if these shows were aired weekly during primetime, more effort and creativity would’ve been put into it. Instead, the television think tanks have to stretch their ideas for five days every week. If Voltes V aired daily, do you think he’d be able to afford trashing a Boazanian Beast Fighter every episode?
Come to think of it, if Voltes V trashed a Boazanian Beast Fighter every episode, why didn’t Prince Zardos just save his pennies and give the Voltes team a break for ten weeks, then send his army of Beast Fighters to rip out Voltes V’s spleen through his skinny ass?! But I digress.
Of course, the television companies took advantage of this anomaly by producing soaps faster than a rabbit’s average fuck time. Even the fantaseryes and telefantasyas (which are synonymous, anyway) are just soaps pumped up with too much steroids. Or hallicunagens.
Listen. Here’s the devil in the details…
Where do you think this anomaly of the attention deficit nation started? Media, of course. Watch the snake eat itself.
